Being able to be in Santa Fe, New Mexico for an extended period of time remains an extraordinary experience on so many levels...first and foremost this place, the high desert offers a physical experience and landscape like no other and one of so many remarkable places on this planet ...the dramatic light and arcing southwest earth and sky, limitless horizons, mystical landscape – all are transformative, as is the profound ancient Paleo-Indian culture and ten thousand year plus Indigenous heritage, nineteen distinct and sovereign nation Pueblos. The Native American, Spanish, Mexican and Anglo lineage is imbued in the land and diverse cultural history embodies it all – truly a painters vision exists here. Included below is a series of new mixed media paintings - about this place, this moment in time...

My studio practice continues to evolve with the exploration of visual and conceptual abstraction and the expressive use of mixed media.
In this case, aligned with new paintings, images of previous and recently created works are repurposed, as well as new photographs taken while in Santa fe are digitally altered – as an example, as in the "spirit line” and "portal" series below – explorations of resource material and new tools, resulting in a hybrid of elements, digital imagery painted into, latex enamel, acrylic, layered in compound color, texture and image integration on canvas – all while considering new applications for the work, whethter 2-D or 3-D…
