Martin DeWitt - Arts Administration
Concurrent with his arts administration and curatorial duties as Founding Director of the Fine Art Museum, Western Carolina University ('03-'10), De Witt taught painting, drawing, selected contemporary and art historical topics, the business of art, grant writing, and fine arts administration. In January 2011, Martin retired from Western Carolina University to devote career endeavors to Martin DeWitt Studio + Fine Arts Services.
Martin DeWitt was previously Director ('90-'03) and Curator ('86-'90) of Tweed Museum of Art, University of Minnesota Duluth. He has also been leader of study abroad trips to Mexico and Italy teaching workshops in painting and drawing; facilitated exhibits and cultural exchanges between Duluth, Minnesota and Sister Cities in Canada, Japan, Italy, Mexico, Sweden, and Russia. DeWitt recently joined an Asheville, NC Sister Cities delegation traveling to San Cristobal de las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico to explore cultural exchanges.
